RESOLUTION PROCEDURES

Stillness Trainings

The nature of the training naturally supports an inner exploration for all participants - students, assistants and tutors, and this brings with it the potential for issues to surface.

During the Introductory training Stillness Trainings (to be stated as "we" from here on) introduces the concepts and practice of "managing your own process" and "self-responsibility". These essential aspects of relationship are developed throughout the training and greatly assist in the healthy resolution of issues or conflicts that may arise. We have found that the 'biodynamic' principles of respect, non-judgment and self-reflection, which develop through this practice, markedly support and often resolve our processes, issues and conflicts.

We will call in an 'outside' facilitator to assist, should it be deemed necessary or should the student or tutor make this request. The student and/or tutor are welcome to invite support from other students and/or tutors to be present in this process.

Should the issue remain unresolved after all of these processes and procedures have been met, the student or tutor may wish to formally lodge a complaint to the Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT), which is the accreditation body for the Practitioner training. This type of complaint must involve a breach of the Association's Code of Ethics, which may be requested via the Association's web site www.biodynamic-craniosacral.com. We will assist the student in this process if requested.

Office Hours during the Practitioner Training

When possible, we offer students space before class each day, or after class, if more convenient, to make an appointment with the tutor of their choice for a personal chat where the student is free to discuss any issues that have come up for them outside of the teaching.

Students may also request support in other ways to resolve any interpersonal issues with a student or tutor. In conjunction with the tutor team, we decide on the best way to work towards a resolution.

Tutorials during the Practitioner Training

Each group of three or four students is assigned a tutor for each block of training and between seminars. On the first day of each block of training and at the end of this block we allocate time for each tutor group to meet. This time also offers students, in a small group environment, the opportunity to name any issue that requires attention. If a resolution is not possible during this meeting another time will be allocated, and a process decided that meets the student's needs.

Tutor Team

We have found that it is vital for the tutor team to be in a healthy relationship to support each other, for the teaching and for the students.  Therefore we meet together to work with any issues, to manage student needs and to prepare logistically and energetically for the training ahead.

The tutor team also meets before each day's teaching, during lunch and at the end of each day and each seminar for a debrief session.

Team contact continues as necessary via phone or email between practitioner training seminars.

Practice Clients

Many patients/clients, family members and friends volunteer their services as practice clients to individual students and for Student Clinic.

Practice clients who attend student clinic complete a permission form before their session and a feedback form after their session. The supervising tutor will check in with them individually before they leave. At the end of each student clinic, time is allocated for an in-depth feedback session with students and their supervising tutor(s). A few days after the Clinic each student contacts their practice clients for feedback and to answer any questions by telephone. If there is an issue noted during this feedback the student will organise a supervision session with a tutor, who may contact the client should the need arise.

Practice clients, who volunteer themselves to students between seminars, read and sign a permission form of understanding of their role and the student's role in practice. These clients are welcome to contact the tutors should they have any praise for the student, complaint or questions.

Any praise, questions or complaint are noted and managed by the tutor who in turn liaises with the student and the tutor team.

After the Training

All students are welcome to contact their tutor after any of the training modules. Graduates are invited to become a Member of PACT, the registration body that oversees professional and ethical standards.

Membership of PACT has many benefits for the new graduate with ease of access to more experienced graduates who offer support and advice about practice matters.

Graduates also have available accredited practitioners for paid supervision sessions. Although Supervision is mandatory for all new graduates for the first two years of practice, we recommend all practitioners maintain Supervision throughout their professional life. Regular sessions with a suitable Supervisor supports the health of the practitioner, their practice and their clients/patients.
